The 'cigarette' is an extremely complex electronic device with a micro processor. It should be treated with care, not exposed to liquids, flames, temperature extremes and certainly not dropped on a hard surface! Batteries should be disposed of correctly or recycled.
From time to time, remove the vapour unit and drain any fluid onto tissue or kitchen roll. When replacing, gently wipe the unit where it connects to the battery (and the battery threaded end) to allow a good electrical contact. It is also recommended to clean the terminals of the charger but this MUST be disconnected from the supply.
Remove the battery and gently wipe the battery with a damp cloth then wipe dry. Battery, vapour unit and charger contacts should be kept clean and gently wiped over (the threaded parts and inside contact) to ensure good electrical contact. Note that the charger MUST be unplgged before cleaning.
Vapor units benefit from draining to clear any build up of fluid which may impair heating and reduce life. They are best stood upright on the heating tip (lean them against a wall or similar) on a pad of kitchen tissue overnight. This can be done daily or periodically depending on use.
Yes, legally you can smoke anywhere since the definition of smoking under the ban involves burning. A card is enclosed in every kit explaining the law which you may show to landlords etc. when asked. It is a courtesy of course to politely ask and explain!
Because nothing is burnt, only vapour is exhaled and none of the toxic chemicals present in tobacco are released when using the electronic cigarette, 'e' smoking is considered a much safer alternative. Long term inhalation of the few ingredients however is still under review but the signicant risks from real smoking are well known. Intellicig recommend a maximum of four cartridges per day.
Yes. Once You have a starter kit and perhaps spare battery and vapor unit, electronic cigarettes represent a saving from between 25% and 75% compared to tobacco depending on how much you smoke. This includes the cost of replacement vaporisers.
Everyone smokes differently! A heavy smoker may draw harder and for longer but on average, a twenty a day smoker will use around three to five cartridges. Replacing the cap on the cartridge and allowing it to stand on the capped end for a while may help extend the cartridge life since the fluid gets chance to drain back towards the end closest to the vapor unit.
Batteries are dependant on temperature, storage and use. The standard battery lasts up to six hours and the mini up to four hours. Heavy 'chain' smokers may exhaust the battery more quickly so a spare on charge is advised. Batteries can be charged up to 600 times.
The vapor unit does all the hard work. Inside, a tiny coil heats rather like a light bulb then contacts cold fluid repeatedly. Like a light bulb, the coil won't last forever! Average life is around two months but various depending on care and use.
Tiny droplets which form on the tip while 'smoking' in normal use have very little, if any, taste. These are most likely the vapor condensing on the tip.
Cartidges have an inner chamber filled with fluid and only tiny airways that connect the mouthpiece with the vapor unit. During transit, particularly when new and full, the fluid may seep into the airways and reach the outer cartridge. This fluid should NOT be ingested and the tip should be wiped away immediately. Usually, gently blowing back through the ecigarette will dispel any excess which can then be wiped away but wipe the tip first.
However, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the unit if there is still an excess. Remove the cartridge and insert a pin or paper clip through the small whole in the tip to push out the inner sleeve. Wipe the sleeve, inside of the cartridge and the vapor unit with kitchen paper before reassembling. Always protect your hands from the fluid.
Absolutely not. The cigarette is intended for adult smokers. They should not be sold, given to, or used by non smokers or under 18s. Cartridges contain nicotine and should be stored safely away from children. Packaging is clearly marked.
It happens so if you don't want to grab the nearest tobacco make sure you keep a supply of cartridges and at least a vapor unit. If you are really comitted to 'e' smoking then a second kit is the cheapest way to make sure you have a set of spares.
Cartridges and E-Liquid should be stored with the cap in place and locked or stored away from children or pets. Nicotine is poisonous if ingested rather than inhaled. Medical advice should be sought if this should happen. For hygiene reasons, it makes sense to look after your cartridges and keep them in the original wrapper before use.
